Scalloped Cabbage

I grew up on Scalloped Cabbage. In fact, if given the chance, I’d make an entire meal out of it! I’ve raised my son to be the same way unfortunately. Now, I’ve got to fight him for it :)

In a saucepan, combine:

  • 1/2 head Cabbage, cut into bite size pieces

  • 1/2 Onion, roughly chopped

  • 1 clove Garlic, chopped

Fill pot halfway with water. Cover and put over medium high heat. Boil until cabbage is just tender. Drain well and season with:

  • 1 pat Butter

  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Lightly butter a casserole dish and add 1/2 of your cabbage mixture. Top with approximately:

  • 10 Saltine Crackers (or until a thin layer of crackers is achieved )

Repeat layer of cabbage, crackers (a little thicker layer this time), and top with:

  • 1 pat Butter, cut into pieces

Pour milk slowly over top until it can just be seen around the edges of your casserole. Place in a 350 degree oven and bake 35-45 minutes. Enjoy!
