Hoe Cakes

These Hoe Cakes are a perfect balance of crispy edges and tender centers, with a hint of savory charm that makes them downright irresistible. They're a cozy, golden bite of comfort that’ll have you flipping for joy!

Cook Time: 25 mins

To a bowl, add:

  • 1 cup Cornmeal

  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour

  • 2 ½ tsp. Baking Powder

  • 1 tsp. Salt


Whisk to combine. In another bowl, add:

  • ¾ cup Milk

  • 2 Tbsp. Melted Butter

  • 2 Eggs, beaten


Whisk together then add wet ingredients to dry. Gently stir to combine. Allow to rest. In a skillet over medium heat, add:

  • 1 tsp. Bacon Grease


Once grease is hot, pour batter into individual cakes. Allow to cook until edges appear dry and bubbles rise to the top. Flip and cook 1 minute more. Repeat the process until all your batter is used. Serve and Enjoy!
