Creamed Peas

A Southern side dish that’s hard to beat. The sweetness of the peas paired with the creaminess of the sauce make it a perfect addition to any meal.

Creamed Peas

In a small saucepan, add:

  • 1- 15 oz. can Young Sweet Peas

  • 1 tsp. Minced Dried Onions

  • 1/2 Tbsp. Butter

  • Black Pepper to taste

Place over high heat with lid on until it comes to a rolling boil. Remove lid and lower heat to medium high. Allow to cook for 5 to 10 minutes, or until liquids have reduced by half.

After liquids have reduced, lower heat to a simmer. Add to your saucepan:

  • 2 Tbsp. All Purpose Flour

Gently incorporate flour into liquid taking care to not smash your peas. Combine until all flour lumps are fully dissolved. Add:

  • 1/3 cup Milk

Stir slowly and allow mixture to thicken. Add additional milk as needed to reach your desired creamy texture. Perform a taste test and adjust seasonings to your personal liking. Serve and Enjoy!
