Old Fashioned Iced Tea
Growing up in the South, iced tea is served with most every meal. It’s a morning pick me up and an afternoon treat as well. The crazy thing is that there are as many ways to make iced tea as there are Southerners! This is my version. It has a delicious tea flavor with no bitterness. It is not overly sweet, but you can adjust the sugar to your own liking. I hope you will give this recipe a try. I think it will keep you coming back again and again. Enjoy!
In a tea kettle or pot, add:
6 cups Cold Water
2 Family Size Lipton Tea Bags
Place over high heat and allow to come ALMOST to a boil. Watch it closely as it loves to surprise you by boiling over! Just before reaching boiling, turn off burner and add:
1 small pinch Baking Soda
Allow tea to set and steep until it is room temperature. Turn burner back on to a low heat and allow tea to warm through. Pour warm tea over:
1/2 to 2/3 cup Sugar
Mix well until all sugar is dissolved. Add:
6 cups Cold Water
Mix again. Pour over a cup full of ice and enjoy!
